Marvel Games has revealed the 2026 roadmap for Marvel Rivals, the popular hero shooter from NetEase Games. The “Path to Doomsday” event will span from April through December 2026, featuring limited-time game modes, themed cosmetics, and special events inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Avengers films.
Path to Doomsday Timeline
The in-game events will trace the history of the MCU’s Avengers saga, starting with 2012’s The Avengers and building toward the release of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday in theaters on December 18, 2026. Each phase of the roadmap focuses on a different era of the franchise:
- April 2026: The Avengers (2012). A new limited-time game mode pits a super-powered Loki against a team of six heroes. Loki gets a new skill set combining deception, illusions, and Infinity Stone abilities, along with a costume inspired by his 2012 film appearance.
- June 2026: Age of Ultron era events.
- August 2026: Infinity Saga film-inspired content.
- October 2026: Endgame-themed events leading into Doomsday’s December release.
Season 7 Coming March 20
Before the Path to Doomsday kicks off, Marvel Rivals Season 7 launches on March 20. The new season teases “a thief and an agent teaming up in New York for an impossible mission,” with new heroes and seasonal content arriving alongside it.
The Avengers: Doomsday Connection
The roadmap builds directly toward Avengers: Doomsday, which arrives in theaters on December 18, 2026. Robert Downey Jr. returns to the MCU in the film as Doctor Doom. The Path to Doomsday event is designed to get Marvel Rivals’ massive player base engaged with the Avengers saga ahead of the film’s release.
The announcements were made at Marvel Rivals Assemble, a special fan event at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood where NetEase Games and Marvel Games executives presented the 2026 roadmap.
