Disney Parks Blog published a new feature on Reese Alexiades, highlighting the Savannah Bananas outfielder’s long connection to Disney through his family and childhood visits to Disneyland Resort.
Alexiades, known to Banana Ball fans for his red cape and No. 2 jersey in right field, said Disney has been a steady part of his life alongside baseball. The Disney Parks Blog story says his father, John Alexiades, is a 32-year cast member at The Walt Disney Company and currently serves as vice president of production finance at Walt Disney Studios. According to the story, that career helped shape Reese’s early memories, from trips to the studio lot in Burbank to regular visits to Disneyland with family.
The post says Alexiades was born in July 1997 and visited Disneyland when he was just three weeks old. He told Disney Parks Blog that going to the studio in Burbank was one of the coolest parts of his childhood and made him want to work in movies when he was younger. He also said Disney became part of his routine growing up, sometimes through planned weekend park trips and sometimes through spontaneous visits between local baseball games.
Alexiades grew up in Manhattan Beach, California, which kept Disneyland Resort within easy driving distance. That Southern California connection made the Bananas’ return to Anaheim feel especially personal. The story notes that Savannah Bananas Day at Disneyland Resort took place on March 26, 2026, ahead of two games against the Indianapolis Clowns at Angel Stadium later that weekend.
In the interview, Alexiades said seeing familiar faces in Anaheim added to the moment. He told Disney Parks Blog that family members, friends, former players he coached, and other supporters planned to attend the Disneyland celebration and the games. He also pointed to the expanded fan interaction opportunities tied to this year’s event.
The story also gave fans a look at Alexiades’ Disney favorites. He named Toy Story Midway Mania as one of his favorite attractions when there is a little competition involved, and he picked a churro as his favorite Disneyland food. He said Monsters, Inc. is his favorite Disney movie and chose Captain America as the Super Hero he would add to the Bananas’ roster. For a character who matches his style of play, he picked Will Turner from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
Disney Parks Blog also looked back at the first Savannah Bananas Day at Disneyland in 2025, when the team took part in a cavalcade down Main Street, U.S.A. Alexiades said that event was probably his favorite day of the year because it let him experience parts of Disneyland in a completely new way. This year’s celebration expanded with a merchandise pop-up in Downtown Disney District, a new performance at the World of Color viewing area in Disney California Adventure, and opportunities for some guests to meet select Savannah Bananas and Indianapolis Clowns players.
