LEGO Ideas has opened a fan-building challenge combining Star Wars and Marvel in original LEGO creations. Fans can submit character, vehicle, or scene mash-ups inspired by the two franchises.

The challenge celebrates the original Star Wars film’s 50th anniversary. LEGO announced it during the Marvel Comics: House of Ideas panel featuring actor, director, and Marvel Comics writer Kevin Smith.
- Submissions: Fans can enter at ideas.lego.com.
- Voting: Begins December 15, 2026.
- Grand prizes: Selections will be announced the following year, honoring the Star Wars franchise’s anniversary.
Three ways to combine the franchises
Builders can choose from three challenge themes:

- Character Fusion
- Vehicle Fusion
- Scene Fusion
Entries must draw inspiration from Marvel Comics. The Star Wars inspiration must come from Star Wars: A New Hope. That’s the original film, which received that title later.
Fans build their entries with LEGO elements. LEGO directs participants to the challenge rules and guidelines before they start building.
One suggested combination gives Captain America’s shield to the captain of the Millennium Falcon. Another crosses a Wookiee with Wolverine.
Iron Man gets a different possibility: a twisted, evil machine cursed by the dark side. These are suggestions for fan creations, not required designs.
“This challenge is a milestone for LEGO Ideas and our fan community,” said Fede Begher.
Begher is the LEGO Group’s Senior Vice President and Head of Product Group. Begher said this is the first LEGO Ideas challenge allowing fans to build with both franchises.
The crossover opens entirely new possibilities for creativity and storytelling, Begher said.
Begher said fans “never stop imagining new ways to bring their favorite worlds together.” Begher added that LEGO is excited to see fans’ originality, passion and innovation in this crossover.
Kevin Smith’s crossover story
The challenge comes alongside Star Wars x Marvel: Hope Assembles, launching in January. Smith will write the story, combining characters from both fictional universes.
It’s the first story bringing together the Star Wars galaxy and the Marvel Comics universe. The crossover puts heroes from both franchises against a shared villain alliance.
The Avengers and Spider-Man will team up with heroes from the Star Wars galaxy. Those heroes include Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Chewbacca.
Their opponents include Doctor Doom and Darth Vader. The Galactic Empire completes the villain alliance Smith’s heroes will face.
True believers can exercise unlimited power in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the original Star Wars film, later renamed Star Wars: A New Hope.
