Universal Orlando Resort Unveils New Charity License Plates

It’s not unusual to see on the roads of Florida – the car in front of you sporting an elegant silhouette of Cinderella’s Castle on their license plate, a specialty design released by Walt Disney World multiple times across various designs over the years. Since 2021, Disney has released various designs all sporting the iconic castle, and in its first year, over 10,000 pre-sale vouchers were purchased upon announcement.

Now, Universal Orlando Resort is following suit – a move that many theme park fans have been hoping for, to sport their own park pride alongside their Disney-focused peers on the road.

This new specialty plate features the iconic Universal Globe atop a galaxy-inspired backdrop, in line with the recent tightening of Universal’s design elements in preparation for the opening of Universal’s Epic Universe. Universal Orlando Resort was proud to announce that all proceeds will benefit beloved local nonprofit Give Kids the World, which has partnered with Universal for over last thirty years to send critically ill children and their families on their dream vacations here in Central Florida at no cost to them.

This specialty license plate is currently available for pre-sale online [here], or in person at local tax collector and tag agency offices across Florida.

“We love our enthusiastic fans and Passholders at Universal Orlando and our first-ever specialty license plate is the perfect way to express their passion,” said Karen Irwin, President and Chief Operating Officer of Universal Orlando Resort. “We are so excited to build on our longstanding, treasured partnership with Give Kids The World in support of its incredible mission in this new and unique way.”

Universal has long-since been a close partner of Give Kids the World, both through leadership positions and charitable donations of park and assistance passes to ensure families experiencing medical hardships can have access to the same unforgettable time together that others do. In addition to corporate support, Universal Orlando Resort team members have a particular soft spot for Give Kids the World, with the Kissimmee nonprofit ranking as one of the top five most popular nonprofit organizations supported by Universal Orlando Volunteers, with team members contributing more than 4,000 volunteer hours for the organization in 2024.

Universal has announced that production of these specialty plates will begin after 3,000 pre-sale vouchers have been purchased; at $33.00 plus applicable administration fees, these plates are a unique opportunity to showcase your park pride and make a meaningful contribution to an organization that makes real difference in the lives of families in need. If there is one thing that has stuck with Universal park-goers over the years, it’s that Laughter is Universal. Everyone needs to laugh once in a while, and doing so can be difficult when shouldering the overwhelming burden of a medical crisis – especially when the one in need is your child.

Universal Orlando Resort’s partnership with Give Kids the World is a chance for those families to find laughter in difficult times – and that kind of gift cannot be underestimated.

To keep an eye on the number of pre-sale license plates purchased, and to know how close Floridians are to putting these incredible new plates to print, you can check out the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles site [here] for information on pre-sale data. Realistically, with how beloved both Universal Orlando Resort and Give Kids the World are here in Central Florida, it shouldn’t be long before the 3,000 plate threshold is reached for Universal Orlando Resort to officially put these plates to print! Still, it’s fun to stay in the loop and watch the numbers climb!

And buyers can rest easy! If, for whatever reason, the Universal Orlando Resort specialty plate fails to reach the 3,000 pre-sale vouchers required to put the plate to print, refunds will be issued – minus the administrative fees.

Once the plates do go to print, those who have purchased their vouchers can request the plate at the time of registration renewal or as an on-demand replacement for no additional cost! With the holiday season upon us, they would certainly make unique and exciting gifts for those Universal fans in your life – so head over to the site (once again, found [here]!) and purchase your pre-sale voucher. Let’s get those plates to print!
