Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes is getting a D23 weekend presence in Anaheim, with learn-to-play sessions, special play formats, artist signings, booth experiences, and event-only promo offers tied to the Disney fan event.

The pre-event Magic Play sessions run Thursday and Friday, August 13 and 14, from 5 to 11 p.m. at The Sheraton Park Hotel in Anaheim Resort. The events are open to anyone in the area, and D23 badges aren’t required to register or participate.
Magic Play At The Sheraton Park Hotel
Laughing Dragon Events is helping run the Thursday-Friday schedule, which includes a 30-minute Learn to Play demo using the Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes Beginner Box D23 event planning coverage. Players can also choose Avengers Academy League, a beginner-friendly Two-Headed Giant event using Marvel-themed Welcome Decks, or a Learn-to-Play Fan Party that moves from a Beginner Box demo to Welcome Deck play and then opens three Play Boosters.
The most distinctive format is Magic Presents: God of Mischief, a three-versus-one Commander event. One player takes the Loki role and uses “Loki’s Tricks,” while three hero players team up against Loki. That’s the table story I’d want to watch.
Players can earn prize tickets for participation and redeem them at a prize wall with items from GameGenic and other partners. D23 badgeholders get bonus prize tickets beyond tickets earned through play, so a badge does have an extra perk here Disney fan event perks.
D23 Booth Promos And Signings
At D23, attendees can buy Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes products, discover their Magic color identity, see gallery displays, and take part in a themed photo opportunity. A Shuri, Wakandan Inventor promo card with artwork by Kevin Glint is available with the purchase of a playmat carrying the same art, sold only at the event while supplies last.
There is also a single-transaction shopping promo: anyone who spends $100 or more at the Magic booth during D23 receives one Command Tower promo card while supplies last. Toni Infante and Pauline Voss are scheduled to sign products on Friday, August 14, from 7 to 8 p.m., giving Magic fans one clearly timed stop during the Friday night programming Disney event merchandise coverage.
Registration for the play events is being handled through Laughing Dragon Events. For fans who are already in Anaheim for D23, the practical split is clear: the hotel play sessions don’t require a badge, while product sales, gallery displays, the photo opportunity, and the purchase promos are D23 event activities.
