Walt Disney Imagineering has released a new episode of “Imagineer That!” on its YouTube channel, featuring host Tom Morrow 2.0 exploring how Imagineers keep different animal species safely separated at Kilimanjaro Safaris in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
The episode, posted February 24, tackles the question: how do you keep lions away from rhinos? According to the Disney Parks Blog, the answer involves a combination of thoughtfully placed natural barriers like rock formations and moats, along with treat stations and enrichment areas that guide animals toward specific zones.
The key challenge for Imagineers is blending all of these barriers together so they look seamless to guests on the safari ride, creating what appears to be one continuous savanna landscape while keeping predators and prey safely apart.
What Is Imagineer That?
“Imagineer That!” is an ongoing web series on the Walt Disney Imagineering YouTube channel where Tom Morrow 2.0 uses his inside access at WDI to answer fan questions about how Disney Parks attractions work behind the scenes.
