VisionQuest puts Ultron inside Vision’s head after the hero secretly saved a backup of his former foe. Marvel Television’s Disney+ series was scheduled to premiere October 13, 2026, with two episodes.

Paul Bettany’s rebooted Vision works at a pub in Edinburgh, keeping a low profile. He remembers loving Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, but those memories feel artificial.
The series concludes the trilogy that began with WandaVision in 2021. Agatha All Along followed in 2024.
Ultron’s role in Vision’s identity crisis
James Spader returns as Ultron, who hasn’t appeared onscreen since Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). During 12 years of imprisonment, Ultron has developed an appreciation for art, culture, and entertainment.

He remains unpredictable.
“In some ways, he’s even more dangerous, because he’s older and more mature,” Spader said. Ultron’s access to humanity’s knowledge has given him plenty to absorb, without making him a dependable companion.

Showrunner Terry Matalas wanted Vision and Ultron’s final scene together in that film to continue. With Wanda absent, he imagined Ultron sharing Vision’s internal struggle.
“What if all of that was the series?” Matalas recalled thinking.

Bettany wanted to combine two familiar robot stories: Pinocchio’s desire to become human and Frankenstein’s questions about identity and creation.
Spader said the story worked for him as a standalone, even with the surrounding Marvel history. Bettany felt Matalas had kept a connection to WandaVision while giving VisionQuest its own identity.

A possible son and the AI personas
Paladin ends Vision’s quiet life.

The bounty hunter, played by Todd Stashwick, abducts a young runaway named Thomas Shepherd to bait Vision. Ruaridh Mollica plays Thomas, who may be Vision’s reincarnated son.

Thomas also struggles with memories of Wanda and Vision. Both want to understand the connection between them.
Bettany drew on his own family while filming that relationship. He said his eldest son isn’t biologically his, yet he feels no difference between his children in that regard.

Orla Brady’s F.R.I.D.A.Y. handles socialization, while James D’Arcy’s J.A.R.V.I.S. handles security.
Emily Hampshire plays E.D.I.T.H., whose responsibilities include recreational AI, game therapy, and weapons. She fears being expendable and pushes Vision to experience things, rather than simply know about them.

E.D.I.T.H. previously appeared in Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019). Tony Stark gave Peter Parker glasses that connected him to Stark Industries’ global network.
For Hampshire, the character’s desire for experience is central to playing her. E.D.I.T.H. has knowledge, but she wants a life beyond being someone else’s tool.

“You have all the ingredients for the greatest recipe, but you have never tasted it,” Hampshire said.
