Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings now has its central column installed on Adventure Way at Disney Adventure World. The Disney-Pixar Up-inspired flying chair carousel is planned for 2027.

The structure stands 12 metres tall and weighs 22 tonnes. It supports the entire ride installation and now towers above Adventure Way after months of construction work.
Installing it requires careful handling.
“This sort of operation is always tricky, given the large components that need to be installed; especially since this particular project involves numerous highly detailed decorations that we have to handle with care,” explains Timothée Pons, Ride Project Engineer at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris.
Balloons, murals and Carl’s house
The first themed elements are being installed around the central mast. These include hand-painted murals depicting a blue sky dotted with clouds. Russell and Dug appear floating upward with the help of colorful balloons.

The seats will hang from balloons. Hundreds of brightly colored balloons will be suspended beneath the canopy, carrying that detail into the ride itself.
Outside, the canopy will feature 16 decorative panels. Their graphic design combines stylized clouds, a starry sky and touches of gold.
A golden finial depicting Carl’s house, carried by a cluster of balloons, will crown the roof. That detail echoes Pascal’s silhouette atop Raiponce Tangled Spin, which faces Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings.

Queue scenery and testing ahead
Disney plans for the carousel to complete the Adventure Way experience, but construction still has several stages ahead.

Set pieces for the queue are currently being produced ahead of their installation. Imagineers will also carry out ride tests, beginning well in advance of opening.
The carousel will give riders a view of Disney Adventure World.
