Universal Studios Hollywood is debuting a brand-new interactive adventure for Universal Fan Fest Nights 2026: Scooby-Doo Meets The Universal Monsters: Mystery on the Backlot. What Is Scooby-Doo Meets The Universal Monsters?
Scooby-Doo Meets The Universal Monsters: Mystery on the Backlot is a who-done-it mystery experience that puts guests directly into the story as “extras” on a fictitious monster movie filmed at Universal’s iconic backlot. The adventure launches on Studio Tour trams and unfolds across the park’s world-famous outdoor film sets, including the cobblestone streets of Little Europe and the Court of Miracles: locations used in the original Frankenstein (1931) and The Wolf Man (1941) productions.
The premise: a mysterious villain called the Phantom Director hijacks production by unleashing four Universal Monsters: Frankenstein’s Monster, Dracula, Bride of Frankenstein, and Wolf Man: bringing the film to a standstill. Guests receive a Mystery Manual and partner with Scooby-Doo, Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Shaggy to uncover the Phantom Director’s identity and restart the production.
The experience is self-guided through the backlot sets, with guests collecting clues at their own pace. Photo opportunities with Mystery Inc. and the Universal Monsters are included throughout.

- The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Forbidden Forest: A Search for the Hippogriff: New walk-through experience inside the Forbidden Forest, guided by a Hogwarts Professor
- SUPER NINTENDO WORLD: Colorful Yoshi Celebration: Multi-colored Yoshi meet-and-greet adventure throughout the Mushroom Kingdom
- DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: Secrets of Waterdeep: Returning fan-favorite walk-through featuring the Xanathar beholder, created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop
Select theme park attractions also operate during event hours, including Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Flight of the Hippogriff, Jurassic World – The Ride, Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride, and The Simpsons Ride.
