Royal Caribbean Group confirmed on April 27, 2026, that it has ordered two more Icon Class ships from Meyer Turku for delivery in 2029 and 2030.
For cruise fans, the announcement means Royal Caribbean’s biggest new ship class now has a longer confirmed runway, with the next several Icon Class vessels already lined up through the end of the decade.

The order
Royal Caribbean Group said it has confirmed an order with Meyer Turku for a sixth and seventh Icon Class ship. Icon 6 is scheduled for delivery in 2029, while Icon 7 is scheduled for delivery in 2030.
The company said the order is part of a long-term framework agreement with Meyer Turku that secures shipbuilding capacity through 2036. Royal Caribbean also noted that the Icon 7 order remains subject to customary conditions, including financing.
The Icon Class lineup
The confirmed Icon Class timeline now stretches from Icon of the Seas, which entered service in January 2024, through the newly ordered Icon 7 in 2030.

Royal Caribbean Group said Meyer Turku has built two Icon Class ships so far: Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas. Star of the Seas is scheduled for August 2025, while Legend of the Seas is set to debut in July 2026 in the Western Mediterranean. Hero of the Seas follows in 2027, and the previously announced Icon 5 is scheduled for 2028.
The company did not announce final public names, homeports, itineraries, or onboard feature lineups for Icon 6 or Icon 7 in the April 27 announcement.
Why Meyer Turku matters
Meyer Turku has been one of Royal Caribbean Group’s major shipbuilding partners for more than three decades. The company said the shipyard has built 25 ships for Royal Caribbean Group during that relationship.
Royal Caribbean Group also framed the new order as part of its continued investment in Finland’s maritime sector, saying Meyer Turku and its supplier network employ about 13,000 workers and contribute more than one billion euros annually to Finland’s economy.
What guests should watch next
The practical next step is not booking Icon 6 or Icon 7 yet. Royal Caribbean still has several Icon Class milestones ahead first, including Star of the Seas in 2025, Legend of the Seas in 2026, and Hero of the Seas in 2027.
The big takeaway is that Royal Caribbean is not treating Icon Class as a short experiment. With ships now lined up through 2030, travelers should expect this class to remain central to the company’s cruise plans for years.
