Disney and Epic Games have launched a new Star Wars experience inside Fortnite tied to The Mandalorian and Grogu, which arrives in theaters on May 22, 2026.
The Walt Disney Company announced on May 19, 2026, that The Mandalorian and Grogu Watch Party Island is now live in Fortnite. The island lets players gather in Nevarro, play through themed content, and watch exclusive material from the upcoming film.
The experience was developed by Epic Games, Disney, Lucasfilm, Fairview Portals, and Beyond Creative. Fairview Portals is director Jon Favreau’s storytelling creative studio, and Disney said artisans and craftspeople from The Mandalorian and Grogu production helped build the island with Lucasfilm, Beyond Creative, and Epic.
What is in the Fortnite island
Inside the island, players can watch a 10-minute sneak peek of the movie and a special message from Jon Favreau ahead of the film’s May 22 theatrical release.
Players can also complete quests, interact with characters including Marshall IG-11, and watch an exclusive Q&A with Favreau on May 26, 2026. Disney said the Q&A will feature questions submitted by the Fortnite community.

Star Wars tools are expanding in Fortnite
Disney also highlighted the official STAR WARS Toolkit, which Lucasfilm and Epic Games introduced for Fortnite creators. Disney describes it as the largest intellectual property toolset in Fortnite, giving creators access to Star Wars characters, vehicles, environments, and other assets for new fan-made experiences.
Disney listed Galactic Siege, Escape Vader, and Droid Tycoon as examples of Star Wars islands already using different gameplay styles, from action to strategy. Players can access Star Wars islands across PC, console, and mobile devices.
Smugglers Run gets its Mandalorian update May 22
The announcement also ties the Fortnite rollout back to the parks. On May 22, 2026, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort will introduce a new mission featuring Din Djarin and Grogu.
Disney said the updated attraction will also let guests choose which location to explore during the adventure, adding a new level of guest control to the ride experience.
For theme park fans, that is the biggest in-park takeaway: the same Star Wars campaign now stretches across theaters, Fortnite, and the Smugglers Run attraction on the film’s opening day.
