Tom Morrow 2.0 is back with a question every park fan has asked in the car ride home: how do you actually become an Imagineer? The July 28, 2026 episode of Imagineer That! is live on the Walt Disney Imagineering YouTube channel, and the short answer is that there isn’t one path.
More than 150 different disciplines are represented across Walt Disney Imagineering. Art, engineering, technology, business, storytelling, or something else entirely: team members come from a wide range of professional backgrounds. What Imagineering looks for is a creative mindset, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a passion for solving problems in new ways.

Disney posts each new episode to the Walt Disney Imagineering YouTube channel, with previews on the Disney Parks Blog.
The back catalog is where it gets fun. The June 16, 2026 episode tackled the physics of coaster inversions, using Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring The Muppets and a little help from Lips, trumpet player for The Electric Mayhem. Inertia and centripetal force do the work. Joe from Legal apparently let that one through.
Which episodes are worth a watch?
The May 29, 2026 episode went backstage to explain how Audio-Animatronics figures at Country Bear Musical Jamboree stay show ready. Imagineers review movement, appearance, costuming, and performance details so each character keeps telling its story the way it was written.
Two others stand out. The January 27, 2026 episode explained trackless ride control through Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, where tiny markers embedded in the floor tell the vehicle where to go, like a GPS. The December 22, 2025 holiday episode revealed that scents on Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade floats come from hidden canisters of scented oil, heated until they evaporate and pushed out by fans.
That last one reframes a park walk permanently. Pine, gingerbread, and peppermint aren’t in the air by accident, and the same thinking gives Pirates of the Caribbean, Spaceship Earth, and Soarin’ Around the World the smells you’d recognize blindfolded.
