Star Wars and Marvel will meet in one comic-book saga for the first time when Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles launches in January 2027. It’s a five-issue limited series bringing heroes and villains from both universes into the same story after a spell shatters reality.
Kevin Smith is writing the series, while David Marquez is drawing it. Marquez, associated with Uncanny X-Men, also receives the crossover’s art credit. The limited series is part of the celebration marking the 50th anniversary of Star Wars.
A shattered reality brings Star Wars to Earth
The spell changes what Marvel’s heroes can see and where the Star Wars action appears. Events from Star Wars begin unfolding on Earth and directly before their eyes, bringing “a galaxy far, far away” into the “World Outside Your Window.” The broken reality becomes the point of contact between the two universes.
The Avengers, Spider-Man and additional Marvel heroes Avengers and Spider-Man updates will join Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo and Chewbacca. Those four Star Wars heroes Star Wars character updates form the named group crossing paths with Marvel’s roster. They’ll work together within the same reality-spanning conflict.
The crossover isn’t limited to its hero alliance. Doctor Doom will align himself with the likes of Darth Vader and the Galactic Empire. That places a Marvel villain alongside both Vader and the larger Imperial faction, giving the story a cross-universe alliance on the opposing side as well.
One saga across five issues
All five issues will belong to a single limited saga rather than a collection of separate crossover stories. The series will begin in January 2027. Smith and Marquez will guide that contained story through the spell, the meeting on Earth and the resulting alliances.
