Universal Studios Japan opens its 25th anniversary fall event on Thursday, September 10, 2026. It’s called Universal Extreme Autumn ~Discover U!!!~, and it runs through Sunday, November 8, 2026. The park showed it to media on Wednesday, September 9.

The pitch is simple. Park characters go all in on Halloween, and guests get food, merchandise, a new carnival game and a new meet and greet built around them.
Scary-cute food and merchandise
Hello Kitty, My Melody and Kuromi, Snoopy and Hamikuma all turn up in what the park calls a “kowa-kawa” look, which translates to scary-cute. The designs run on a Street Zombie theme. Hello Kitty wears a heart-shaped eye patch. My Melody and Kuromi get bunny ears with scrapes and bandages. Snoopy is dressed as a cursed doll with patchwork stitching and a blank stare.
Food goes on sale Thursday, September 10, at Studio Stars Restaurant. Merchandise goes on sale Wednesday, September 9, at Cinema 4-D Store and other locations. The park redressed Cinema 4-D Store as a spooky mansion for the season, and it’s stocked with plush and wearable items. Universal Studios Japan notes that designs, locations and on-sale dates can change without notice, and that items can sell out.
A Hamikuma carnival game
Hamikuma, the cute-but-unsettling bear from Halloween Horror Nights, gets a carnival game at Festival in the Park. Guests toss balls and the crowd reacts. At the media preview, people cheered and clapped when someone pulled it off.
The park also showed off trick-or-treating, where kids call out to crew members and get candy.
Pink and light blue Yoshi join the Super Nintendo World meet and greet
This is the piece I’d fly for. Super Nintendo World turned five, and the celebration adds a limited-time greeting this fall. A pink Yoshi and a light blue Yoshi now appear alongside the green Yoshi at the Meet and Greet.
That greeting runs from Thursday, September 10, 2026, through Monday, January 11, 2027, in Super Nintendo World. Times vary by day. One Yoshi appears per session, so which one you get is luck of the draw.
If you’ve been following the park’s fall build-up, my earlier look at the USJ Halloween teaser sets up where this lands, and the Back to Hogwarts castle walk is another piece of the 25th anniversary year.
More coming the same day
Universal Studios Japan says news on the 15th anniversary of Halloween Horror Nights goes out the evening of Wednesday, September 9, Japan time. That’s the horror side of the season, and it’s separate from Extreme Autumn.
Universal Studios Japan is themed on Discover U!!! for its 25th anniversary in 2026. The park opened in 2001 and sits under Comcast NBCUniversal.
