DreamWorks Animation’s Forgotten Island opens in theaters September 25, and Universal is rolling out a product wave to go with it. Tees and mini backpacks are coming from BoxLunch and Hot Topic, four books are coming from Random House, and there’s a limited edition ube ice cream in the mix.
The film stars H.E.R., Liza Soberano, Dave Franco, Jenny Slate and Manny Jacinto. Prices across the BoxLunch and Hot Topic items run from $26.91 to $79.90.
What Forgotten Island merch is at BoxLunch?
BoxLunch has three pieces. The Mabuhay T-shirt carries a tropical design of Jo and Raissa, and the Bungi-Tiyanak tee puts the creature beneath its own name on the front. Both tees are $29.90.
The interesting one is the $79.90 BFF Bracelet Mini Backpack, modeled after Raissa’s own bag. It comes with a best friend bracelet charm, embroidered details and a faux sticky note applique.
When does the Hot Topic collection drop?
The Hot Topic side of the lineup arrives September 25, the same day the movie hits theaters. Three items are listed.
The Icons Mini Backpack is $49.90 and has a patch of Raissa and Jo, star and character graphics with paint splatter detailing, a front zipper pocket, side pockets and adjustable straps. It finishes with a detachable “Mega Mix!” coin purse and a “BFF” bead bracelet. The chibi character pajama pants are $26.91, with an allover print of Raissa, Jo and other characters from the film.
The Raissa and Jo oversized zip-up hoodie runs $59.88. Purple graphics of the two sit on the chest, the film’s logo goes on the sleeve, and wings go on the back. The drawcords are inspired by their friendship bracelets, down to the “BFF” bead detailing.
What Forgotten Island books are Random House publishing?
Four titles, priced from $5.99 to $14.99. Forgotten Island: The Deluxe Junior Novelization retells Jo and Raissa’s adventure with a 16-page full-color insert and a poster, and Forgotten Island: Meet Jo and Raissa is a leveled reader for younger kids. Both go on sale September 29.
Two more follow on November 17. Forgotten Island: Best Friends Forever is a Little Golden Book about Jo and Raissa’s friendship, and Forgotten Island: Official Friendship Journal is an interactive hardcover with space to record memories, create friendship charms and take personality quizzes.
Where can you get the Forgotten Island ube ice cream?
Magnolia Ice Cream made a limited edition Ube Ice Cream with Universal for the theatrical release, in special Forgotten Island packaging. Ube is a Filipino flavor Magnolia has been making since 1972, creamy and subtly sweet. Additional flavors, including Macapuno Coconut, are coming.
It’s available at Seafood City locations nationwide.
Shark Take: The Hot Topic pieces and the movie land on the same date, so September 25 is the day to check if you want the backpack or the hoodie. The books trickle out over the following two months.
