Artemis Fowl is getting an animated TV adaptation on Disney Channel and Disney+, with author Eoin Colfer executive producing. Colfer announced the series at New York Comic Con on October 11, 2026.
The first novel arrived in 2001, and the book franchise is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The series has sold more than 35 million copies worldwide, with translations in 48 languages.
The action-adventure fantasy follows a 13-year-old genius. Artemis uncovers an underground fairy world and launches a plan to capture one of its inhabitants.
The fairies are armed, dangerous and surprisingly high-tech. Artemis wants to steal a fairy’s magic to heal his dying mom and save his family.
The creative team
Emmy and Annie Award winner Ben Juwono will executive produce alongside Colfer. Ben Juwono’s credits include Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur and Big Hero 6: The Series.
Colleen Evanson also joins as an executive producer. Colleen Evanson’s credits include Prep and Landing: The Snowball Protocol, DuckTales and Monsters at Work.
Colfer will bring his creative vision to the adaptation, digging deeper into the books’ characters and lore.
“I am proud and delighted to be part of the formidable team,” Colfer said about making the animation. He called the team “so talented and so positive.”
“I feel certain the fairy world is in excellent hands,” he said.
Ayo Davis, president of Disney Kids & Family, said the adaptation aims to introduce Artemis to a new generation. Davis also emphasized honoring longtime readers.
“For more than two decades, Eoin Colfer’s ‘Artemis Fowl’ books have captivated readers around the world,” Davis said. Davis praised their ‘unforgettable characters, imaginative world-building, and gripping adventures.’
