Banana Ball Open will bring a four-day baseball tournament and fan experience to Walt Disney World Resort in 2027. All six Banana Ball teams will take part.
The event follows two Banana Ball games at the resort’s sports complex earlier in 2026. Banana Ball combines athletic competition with entertainment and showmanship, putting fans at the center of the action.
Tickets and tournament format
The Open will feature four games, with four squads competing head-to-head at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
- Dates: April 15-18, 2027.
- Ticket lottery: Fans can enter the list through October 31, 2026, at BananaBall.com.
- Starting price: $35 for tickets to the Open.
Banana Ball revealed the tournament during its “Banana Ball Selection Show” on ESPN2 as part of its national schedule. Jesse Cole created the sport around a “Fans First” philosophy, and the Savannah Bananas helped make it famous.
The Banana Ball Championship League features these six teams:
- Savannah Bananas
- Loco Beach Coconuts
- Firefighters
- Party Animals
- Indianapolis Clowns
- Texas Tailgaters
The Florida complex opened in 1997 and spans 220 acres. Its competition facilities include 16 baseball and softball fields and a 9,500-seat stadium. It also hosts Disney Soccer and Disney Spring Training, with facilities for professional, amateur and youth athletes.
A documentary with original songs
A music-driven Banana Ball documentary will stream on Disney+ and Hulu in fall 2027. It follows the sport’s 10-year journey from Savannah, Georgia, to a phenomenon known as “The Greatest Show in Sports.”
The film explores the stories, personalities and community behind Banana Ball. Its musical component comes from EGOT-winning songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, whose credits include The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen.
Pasek & Paul contribute 11 original songs.
Additional songwriters include Ashley Gorley, Cal Shapiro, Ben Johnson and Adam Yaron. Jake Sinclair, Brandon Bomer, Jarius Jones and Jesse Cole also contribute.
David Beilinson directs the film.
Connor Schell’s Words + Pictures and Pasek & Paul’s Ampersand produce the documentary. Schell founded Words + Pictures after working as an ESPN executive. Ampersand develops projects across live entertainment, film, television and digital formats.
The tournament and film follow several Disney collaborations with Banana Ball. “Banana Bowl: Presented Ad-Free by Liberty Mutual Insurance” streams live on Disney+ and Disney YouTube, while Savannah Bananas games stream across ESPN and Disney+.
Savannah Bananas player Jackson Olson appears on “Dancing with the Stars” on ABC and Disney+. The collaborations also include Savannah Bananas Day at Disneyland Resort.
