Universal Kids Resort opens July 1, 2026, in Frisco, Texas. It’s the first park Universal Destinations & Experiences has built just for families with young children, billed as a theme park for all kidkind.
I’ve been following this one since the very first land reveals dropped. Here’s everything Universal has actually confirmed so far.

What Universal Kids Resort is
This is a smaller, kid-first park, and it isn’t a shrunk-down Universal Orlando. Every ride, show, and play area is built for younger families. Universal calls it its first park designed specifically for families with little ones, and you feel that in everything they’ve shown. Frisco puts it just north of Dallas, an easy trip for families across Texas.
Got toddlers or early-grade kids? This place is built for them. Older thrill chasers may find it mellow, which is exactly what young families are looking for.
The seven themed lands
Universal has announced seven lands, each built around a movie or show your kids already know by heart. Here’s what’s inside each one.
Isle of Curiosity, featuring DreamWorks’ Gabby’s Dollhouse
This is the gateway land, where the day begins. It’s a playtopia with shady lawns and plenty of room to rest and play. Kids can boogie at Gabby’s Cat-Tastic Dance Party, grab cupcakes in chocolate, vanilla, and rainbow at Cakey’s Cupcakes, and refuel at the Universal Kids Resort Café. It’s also home to the flagship Universal Kids Resort Store, the park’s biggest shop, stocking merch from every land plus Gabby’s Dollhouse gear. I broke down the full merchandise and store lineup separately.
Jurassic World Adventure Camp
The dinosaur land’s headline ride is Jurassic World: Cretaceous Coaster. Families zoom through twists, turns, peaks, and valleys to help find Bumpy, a curious Ankylosaurus who has gone missing. Mr. DNA’s Double Helix Spin adds a twisting, turning journey, and Pteranodrop lifts you up for a bird’s-eye view of the park. Kids can meet a newly hatched baby dinosaur, climb the Jurassic World Lookout Towers play area, dine at the Jurassic World Canteen, and shop Jurassic World Outfitters. I shared a first look at Adventure Camp back in March.
Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom
This undersea land puts families aboard their own Jelly Angler at Jellyfish Fields Jamboree, bouncing around with SpongeBob. The Barnacle Bus shows off Bikini Bottom’s sights and residents, Bobbing Barrels lets families blast water cannons while spinning, and Mrs. Puff’s Boating School offers a spin through her boating course. Meet SpongeBob, Patrick Star, and Sandy Cheeks, build sky-high sundaes at Goofy Goober’s, and shop Barg’N-Mart.
DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp
Shrek & Fiona’s Happily Ogre After anchors this land. The ride walks families through how Shrek met Fiona while you help rescue Princess Fiona with Donkey. Two play areas, Shrek’s Swamp Rompin’ Stomp and Shrek’s Swamp Splash & Smash, give kids room to burn off energy. Grab a Shrekzel at Swamp Snacks, shop Triplets Treasures, and meet Shrek and Fiona.
Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club
Yellow Minions square off against the Purple ones in a rowdy water battle. The Bello Bay Cruise is a splash zone for catching the antics, and the Bello Bay Golf Car Derby hands you the wheel as the whole thing spins out of control. Pick a side at the Bello Bay Boutique with Team Yellow and Team Purple gear, snack at Bello Bay Bites, and meet the Minions. I covered the Bello Bay Club reveal when the concept art landed.
DreamWorks’ TrollsFest
This glitter-soaked, round-the-clock party stars Poppy, Branch, and the gang. Rhonda’s TrollsFest Express is an armadillo bus ride, Hair in the Clouds floats guests up on flower-faced balloons, and the King Trollex Techno Dance Party is an indoor interactive experience. At Trollstastic: Concert Countdown, kids run a sound check and learn the dance moves. Eat at Trolls Eatz!, grab ice cream at BroZone Cones, and get a Trolls-style makeover with Troll-ify Me at Sparkle Shine Glitter Glow. Little ones get their own play at Poppy’s Playland and Trolls Critter Crawl, and the shop is Mr. Dinkles’ Market. TrollsFest arrived alongside the wider DreamWorks lands reveal.
DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots Del Mar
Set in the village of Del Mar on kitty adoption day, this land sends guests soaring above the rooftops on Swings Over Del Mar. Mama Luna’s Adopt a Kitty Day! is a show starring Puss in Boots in a wonderfully silly puppet adventure. Eat at Comidas y Leche, grab apparel at Mercado de Perrito, and pick up sweets at Tienda de Dulces.

Where you stay and eat
The on-site Universal Kids Resort Hotel sits right at the park entrance, with 300 rooms and family suites, dining, an outdoor pool, and family-friendly amenities. Inside you’ll find the Curiosity Café, and I went dish by dish through the Curiosity Café menu separately.
Back in the park, the Isle of Curiosity welcome hub keeps Cakey’s Cupcakes busy with chocolate, vanilla, and rainbow flavors. Over in DreamWorks’ TrollsFest, the Sparkle Shine Glitter Glow salon runs its Troll-ify Me makeover, a Trolls-style hair transformation for kids and grown-ups alike.
