Universal Destinations & Experiences and The Pokémon Company have announced a new partnership that will bring immersive Pokémon experiences to Universal theme parks around the world.

What’s Been Announced

The project will debut at Universal Studios Japan before expanding across Universal’s global portfolio of parks. According to Universal Japan’s official announcement, the venture will “bring the Pokémon world to life in an unprecedented interactive and rich way.”

Further details about the project will be announced at a later date.

A 30th Anniversary Milestone

The announcement coincides with Pokémon’s 30th anniversary in 2026. The franchise launched with Pokémon Red and Green in Japan in 1996 and has since become one of the most beloved entertainment properties in the world.

“As Pokémon celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, we are thrilled to launch this new project at such a significant milestone,” said Tsunekazu Ishihara, President and CEO of The Pokémon Company. “Our mission is to enrich both the real and virtual worlds through Pokémon, and with this project, we aim to create theme park entertainment that surprises and delights fans around the globe.”

Building on Existing Collaboration

Since 2021, Universal Studios Japan has featured Pokémon experiences including the popular NO LIMIT! Parade and special Halloween shows. This new project represents an expansion of that partnership.

Mark Woodbury, Chairman and CEO of Universal Destinations & Experiences, said: “Collaborating with imaginative and inventive storytellers fuels our ability to create and deliver mind-blowing attractions and experiences that shatter guest expectations. The Pokémon Company is one of the most beloved interactive franchises in the world, and through our ongoing partnership, we will continue bringing its vibrant world to life in new and innovative ways for years to come.”

Global Expansion Confirmed

Universal has confirmed that following the debut at Universal Studios Japan, Pokémon experiences will be delivered “across the company’s global footprint.”
