Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift opens Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Universal City dated the press release Aug. 31, 2026. Universal says it is the park’s first outdoor, high-speed roller coaster. It is the fastest coaster in the Universal Destinations & Experiences portfolio. The official attraction page lists a 51-inch (129.5 cm) height requirement.
The ride sits on the Upper Lot. The station is a red brick garage-like building. Two photo-op prop cars stand outside the entry archway. A stretch of track runs through a transparent section of the queue.
Trains use a dual-launching, split-ride track. They pass over and under the Starway escalator. The layout has four launches. It includes an inverted dive loop, a twisted pretzel loop, and an inverted stall. Speeds reach up to 72 mph. Forces reach up to 3.6 Gs. The track is 4,100 feet long and uses sound-reduction technology. Vehicles drift 360 degrees.
Universal Creative built the layout into the hillside. The press note says that gives views of the San Fernando Valley, the movie studio, and the theme park.
Guests ride lap-bar harnessed in one of four Fast Saga cars. Each vehicle has its own audio, with engine sounds matched to that car. Each car is fully rotational and independently programmed. Universal says that means four different ride experiences.
The Dodge Charger is inspired by Dominic Toretto’s car. The attraction page calls it a 900-horsepower 1970 Dodge Charger.
The Mazda RX-7 is inspired by Han Seoul-oh’s 1997 car.
The Nissan Skyline GT-R is inspired by Brian O’Conner’s 2002 blue Skyline.
The Toyota Supra is inspired by O’Conner’s orange 1994 car. The page cites the 2JZ-GTE twin-turbo inline-six and the “10-second car” line from the first film.
The arrival platform has a large mural by Tristan Eaton. It shows the first film’s street-race finale, with the Dodge Charger and Toyota Supra racing a train. A second Eaton mural in the queue tributes the full franchise.
The queue recreates Fast Saga props. Select displays have QR codes to Universal’s Backlot Club. Named props include the Fast & Furious 6 car cannon. Fast 5 is represented by a roll cage and winch with a 2010 Dodge Charger SRT8, plus the vault truck. The queue also has Letty Ortiz’s F9 motorcycle and a NOS system with a Dodge Charger engine. Owen Shaw’s Fast & Furious 6 ramp car is listed. So are the Fast X rolling bomb and a rollover stunt rig.
Complimentary lockers sit in the queue. Metal detection is required before the platform. Loose articles, including phones, go in the lockers.
The Fast & Furious franchise marks its 25th anniversary this year. Universal calls it an 11-film, $7 billion saga. Universal Pictures has Fast Forever set for theaters in March 2028.
