Universal Orlando Resort has announced that Universal Volcano Bay will become a completely cashless water park effective February 25, 2026. The change is designed to create an even more seamless visit for guests at the popular water theme park.
Starting on that date, all purchases inside Volcano Bay can only be made using credit or debit cards, Universal Pay, Universal Gift Cards, and other tap-to-pay methods. Cash will no longer be accepted at any point of sale within the park.
What If You Bring Cash?
Guests who arrive with cash won’t be left out. Universal will have Cash-to-Card Kiosks available where visitors can load their funds onto a Visa Prepaid card. The prepaid card can then be used inside Volcano Bay as well as anywhere major credit cards are accepted — so it’s not limited to just the park.
Part of a Growing Trend
The move to cashless operations has been a growing trend across the theme park industry. Many parks have been gradually shifting toward digital payment systems to speed up transactions, reduce wait times at food and merchandise locations, and streamline overall operations.
Universal’s other Orlando parks — Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Epic Universe — have not yet announced similar changes, though all Universal parks do accept digital payment methods alongside cash.
Plan Ahead for Your Visit
If you’re planning a trip to Volcano Bay on or after February 25, make sure to bring a credit card, debit card, or load up your Universal Pay account before heading to the park. For those who prefer cash, budget a few extra minutes to convert your funds at the Cash-to-Card Kiosks near the entrance.
