Disney World’s water park schedule is shifting this month. Blizzard Beach reopens on February 15, while Typhoon Lagoon closes the same day for a refurbishment period.
Typhoon Lagoon is expected to reopen on May 12, meaning both water parks will be open simultaneously for the summer season.
What This Means for Your Trip
If you’re visiting Disney World between now and May 12, Blizzard Beach will be the only water park option starting February 15. Before that date, Typhoon Lagoon is the only water park currently operating.
Here’s the schedule:
- Now through February 14: Typhoon Lagoon open, Blizzard Beach closed
- February 15 through May 11: Blizzard Beach open, Typhoon Lagoon closed for refurbishment
- May 12 onward: Both water parks open for summer
This is a common pattern for Disney World’s water parks. Disney typically keeps one open while the other undergoes seasonal maintenance and improvements, then opens both for the busier summer months.
Planning Around the Change
Guests with trips planned during the transition should note that February 15 is also the Saturday of Presidents’ Day weekend, which typically brings higher-than-average crowds to the parks. If a water park day is part of your plans, factor in the potential for a busy reopening weekend at Blizzard Beach.
Both water parks require separate admission or are included with certain ticket add-ons. Water park access is also included with the Water Park and Sports option available as part of select Walt Disney World ticket packages.
