Walt Disney World is running Together We Are Magia for Hispanic & Latin American Heritage Month, September 15 through October 15, and the music is doing the heavy lifting. Five Latin acts rotate through Eat to the Beat at EPCOT, Magic Kingdom’s cavalcade fills up with Mirabel and Miguel, and a new Coco merchandise collection arrives alongside it all.
Puerto Rican superstar Luis Fonsi joined the celebration this year. During a recent visit he caught ¡Celebración Encanto! at EPCOT, met Mirabel and Bruno, and took in music and dancing from the Storytellers and Primos.
He also rode his favorite attraction, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and met his favorite Disney character, Mickey Mouse. A global pop star who has met everyone, and his answer is still Mickey. Respect.
“It’s an honor to be part of this celebration and to share all the magia that happens when we come together as one,” Fonsi said. “As a Puerto Rican, I’m incredibly proud of my roots and of the opportunity to celebrate our culture with families from around the world.”
Who’s playing Eat to the Beat at EPCOT?
The Eat to the Beat Concert Series opens the run with Latin Ambition on September 15 through 17. Grupo Mania follows on September 20 and 21, and Metro Latino Band takes the stage September 22 through 24.
October has two more. Rey Ruiz plays the 5th and 6th, then Viva Latina closes out the Latin lineup October 9 through 11.
What else is happening in the parks?
At Magic Kingdom, the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade features Mirabel from Encanto, Miguel from Coco, Princess Elena of Avalor, José Carioca, Panchito and more.
Resort guests get a version of it too. Select Movies Under the Stars experiences include Hispanic and Latin American-inspired storytelling, music, dance and films.
What’s in the Coco merchandise collection?
The new Disney and Pixar Coco collection is built around family, music and tradition. Highlights include a Miguel mug, a floral tee and an alebrije headband, which is exactly the kind of thing you wear once and then never take off for the rest of the trip.
Disney notes that experiences are subject to change and may be available for a limited time. Full details live at waltdisneyworld.com/puramagia, and Disney is asking guests to share moments with #DisneyFamilia and #TogetherWeAreMagia.
Shark Take: If you only get one EPCOT night during the run, aim for October 9 through 11, when Viva Latina closes out the Latin lineup. Only Viva Latina lands on a Friday through Sunday block, October 9 through 11, so that weekend is the one Saturday night in the run with a Latin act on the Eat to the Beat stage.
