On April 18, 1994, Disney Theatrical’s first production — a stage adaptation of Beauty and the Beast — opened at the Palace Theater on Broadway. Since then, the company has turned beloved animated films into dazzling stage productions seen by millions of fans worldwide every year.

• The New Amsterdam Theatre, home to Aladdin, was restored by Disney in 1997 and is the oldest theater on Broadway.
• The Lion King has been running continuously since it opened at the New Amsterdam in November 1997 — now at the Minskoff Theatre.

Upcoming D23 Events Celebrating Disney Theatrical
