Fox McCloud from Star Fox is joining The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The official Super Mario Galaxy Movie account revealed the news today with the tagline “Let’s rock and roll,” confirming the Star Fox leader will appear in the film when it hits theaters on April 1. A voice actor for Fox McCloud has not yet been announced.
The reveal came with a promotional image of Fox McCloud and has already generated massive buzz online, with over 80,000 likes on X within hours of the announcement.
What This Means for the Movie
Fox McCloud joins a growing cast that already includes Mario, Yoshi (voiced by Donald Glover, confirmed alongside the final trailer on MAR10 Day), and characters from across the Nintendo universe. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is the follow-up to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which earned over $1.3 billion worldwide in 2023.
Star Fox is one of Nintendo’s most iconic franchises, and Fox McCloud’s inclusion signals that the Galaxy Movie is pulling from a wider range of Nintendo properties beyond the core Mario universe.
The Theme Park Connection
Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood and Epic Universe at Universal Orlando Resort continue to expand their Nintendo-themed attractions. Universal has used its Nintendo film releases to drive park attendance and merchandise sales, and the Galaxy Movie’s April 1 release is expected to bring renewed interest to both parks’ Nintendo areas.
Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood recently added a Yoshi meet and greet to celebrate the film, and additional character appearances tied to the movie are expected around the release date.
