Among parents of older children, 55% regretted postponing outings that never happened.

Parents cited club activities, children spending more time with friends, and growing independence among the reasons.

For parents with younger children, 62.5% had an outing they wanted to take but hadn’t yet managed that year. Overnight trips ranked first at 34.4%, followed by theme parks and amusement parks at 24.4%, then day trips at 18.6%.

Those same three categories topped young adults’ wishes for outings they’d taken more often with family during elementary school. Parents cited family schedules, expenses, and busy work lives among the barriers to making plans happen.

Among parents with an unrealized outing, 98.6% still wanted to make it happen.
