2024 was so jam-packed with thrills and exciting events that it’s hard to imagine how 2025 could possibly top it! But as we enter a new year and leave this one behind, there’s no question that we have tons to look forward to in the coming year!
With the opening of Epic Universe – Universal Orlando Resort’s newest full-scale theme park opening in May, and the biggest theme park in the world – there’s going to be so much to ride, eat, talk about, and experience once the ball gets rolling on what might just be the most anticipated themed entertainment release of the decade. Celestial Park, Super Nintendo World, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter with the British Ministry of Magic and Wizarding Paris, the Isle of Berk from How to Train Your Dragon, and Dark Universe – an homage to Universal’s deepest, darkest roots in the classic monster movies that made the studio big in the early 1900s – there’s going to be so much to explore, we might need all year to cover it!
More information is expected to debut about Horror Unleashed in 2025, the year-round haunt led by the Universal Orlando creative team behind Halloween Horror Nights. In 2024, two new Universal parks were announced for Texas and England as well, and we’re looking forward to seeing progress made on both of those projects once Epic Universe debuts! With so little information released about what these parks may be offering, it’ll be a thrill all its own to learn more about that the creatives at Universal have planned for these brand-new experiences!
And while it may not be new, the return of fan-favorites are always something to look forward to! Mardi Gras will be making its concert announcements soon, and Halloween Horror Nights is just around the corner (eight to ten months is ‘just around the corner,’ right?). In the true spirit of Orlando, there’s always something happening at Universal Orlando Resort!
We also have tons to look forward to at the Disney parks in 2025! From new attractions to the 70th Birthday Celebration at Disneyland, and even the launching of new ships as the Disney Cruise Line expands its fleet even further to bring Disney magic to ports all across the world, Disneyland in California, Walt Disney World here in Orlando, and our friends on the high seas are all slated for so much exciting new debuts in 2025!
Whether you’re most excited for the new Monsters, Inc. coaster that’s coming to Disneyland or the Tropical Americas land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom that will feature beloved and timeless characters like Madrigal family and Indiana Jones, there’s something new for everyone coming to the Disney Parks this upcoming year! D23 gave us a glimpse into one of the most thrilling years of advancements as the parks move forward into a new era of immersion and magic, and it all starts with 2025.
The new year can be a time of uncertainty. It can be hard to predict what the new year has in store for us, after all! But without a doubt, 2025 is going to be a landmark year for theme parks. If nothing else, we can be certain that 2025 is going to be epic.
