Disney says its solar projects can now cover up to 100% of Walt Disney World’s daytime power needs on sunny spring and summer days. In an official Disney Parks Blog post published April 21, 2026, the company also outlined new renewable energy details for Disneyland Resort and several international destinations.

For guests, the practical takeaway is simple: part of your Disney day may already be running on solar power. Disney says the electricity supports resort operations across rides, hotels, and transportation systems, with Walt Disney World carrying the biggest headline in the update.

Walt Disney World

Disney says four solar projects can now produce up to 100% of Walt Disney World’s daytime power needs during sunny periods in spring and summer. That coverage stretches across the full Florida resort, including four theme parks, two water parks, hotels, and other operations.

The newest site is a 74,500-kilowatt solar facility on 484 acres in Levy County, Florida. Disney said the project is built and operated by Bronson Solar in collaboration with the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District. It joins the resort’s Hidden Mickey solar array near EPCOT and other Florida projects already supplying power to the destination.

Disney also shared several yearly equivalency figures tied to that power level, including more than 140,000 metric tons in avoided greenhouse gas emissions, the equivalent of removing nearly 33,000 gasoline-powered cars from the road, and enough electricity to power 19,000 homes for a year.

Disneyland Resort

Disney said Disneyland Resort is also expanding its renewable energy and electrification work. Circle D Ranch now runs on renewable electricity through a new onsite solar and battery storage system, and Disneyland Resort now sources 60% of its electricity through Anaheim Public Utilities’ Green Power Program.

The company also said the resort has added a new EV charging depot with 20 Level 2 chargers and one DC fast charger to support zero-emission vehicles. According to Disney, one in six operational fleet vehicles at Disneyland Resort is now electric, helping avoid about 50,000 gallons of gasoline each year. Disney also says Radiator Springs Racers is powered by 1,400 solar panels.

Other Disney destinations

Disney used the post as a broader roundup of solar projects across its global portfolio. The company said Hong Kong Disneyland recently completed phase two of a solar car park canopy with nearly 400 bifacial panels, while Shanghai Disney Resort has installed solar panels across applicable backstage rooftops and facades.

Disney also said Tokyo Disney Resort has solar panels at 10 rooftop locations with more than 1,500 kilowatts of total capacity. At Disneyland Paris, Disney said the resort’s solar canopy plant now covers more than 11,200 guest parking spaces with over 80,000 panels and produces 36 GWh of electricity annually. Disney Cruise Line also operates solar panel arrays at both Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
