20th Century Studios’ The Devil Wears Prada 2 arrives exclusively in theaters May 1, 2026, reuniting the original main cast nearly 20 years after the first film.
Moviegoers will see Miranda, Andy, Emily and Nigel return in a sequel built around a changing media world, a shifting workplace and a new threat to Runway.

The release
The Walt Disney Company said The Devil Wears Prada 2 opens exclusively in theaters on May 1. The sequel follows the 2006 film, which Disney described as one of the most iconic and beloved films of the last 20 years.
The original main cast returns for the sequel: Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci. Director David Frankel and screenwriter and executive producer Aline Brosh McKenna also returned.
The story
Disney said the sequel brings Miranda Priestly into a magazine industry in flux, with a scandal threatening Runway’s legacy. Andy Sachs is now a seasoned journalist who is recruited back to the magazine as features editor.
Emily Charlton has moved into a senior role at a luxury brand, and Disney said that brand’s backing could be key to Runway’s survival.

The returning team
Brosh McKenna told Disney the sequel was not intended to be just a love letter to fans, but a story about how the world has changed. Frankel said the purpose of the film is not nostalgia, but curiosity.
The sequel also introduces Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, B.J. Novak, Caleb Hearon and Helen J. Shen. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman reprise their roles from the original film.
What to know
The practical detail is simple: The Devil Wears Prada 2 starts its theatrical run May 1, 2026. Anyone revisiting the first movie before opening weekend can stream The Devil Wears Prada on Disney+.
