Howl-O-Scream is SeaWorld San Diego’s nighttime Halloween event, and the 2026 edition lists six haunted houses. The event runs on select nights from September 11 through October 31, 2026. Two houses are marked as all-new, alongside four additional haunted houses.
One of the six houses is I Know What You Did Last Summer: The Final Catch. It follows four teens who cover up a deadly July 4 accident, only to be pursued one year later by the victim they believed was gone. The house appears on the lineup with the all-new Area 64: MOTHERSHIP.
All six Howl-O-Scream haunted houses
The six-house lineup includes stories built around a sleep experiment, a cursed bayou, a slaughterhouse, a three-dimensional circus maze and two all-new nightmares.
- I Know What You Did Last Summer: The Final Catch: Four teens face the return of a man they believed they had left in a watery grave one year earlier.
- Area 64: MOTHERSHIP: Set 30 years before Area 64: Alien Outbreak, the house explores the origins of the extraterrestrial nightmare. Area 64: MOTHERSHIP includes a massive 80-foot-long alien mothership façade.
- Nightmare Experiment Sweet DreamzZz: Sunny Meadows has become a testing site for a volatile sleep aid. Guests face vivid hallucinations, explosive rage and other horrifying side effects.
- Death Water Bayou Awakening: A Mardi Gras night gives way to bayou witches, a haunted graveyard and ancient rituals that awaken a ravenous demon.
- Simon’s Slaughterhouse: The meat-processing nightmare features brand-new sensory effects in corridors filled with meat hooks, buzz saws and butcher blades.
- 3D MAZE: Circus of the Damned: Guests wear 3D glasses while moving through a distorted circus run by an evil ringmaster and a condemned crew.
Five scare zones are named
The attraction page names five scare zones. Red Moon Revelry centers on a vampire commune celebrating the arrival of a blood moon. All Hallow’s Harvest brings cursed scarecrows to blighted farmland. Carnival of Chaos features disgruntled carnies, sideshow clowns and specialty performers on the midway. Deadly Toys turns playtime over to menacing dolls, while Graveyard puts visitors in a cemetery where some evils refuse to stay buried.
The page also lists Monster Stomp at Nautilus Amphitheater. The live performance tells a Jack the Ripper story through rock and rhythm, choreography, live singing and percussion. Three named vignettes are Summon the Spirits, Misfortune and Dark Magic.
More Howl-O-Scream attractions
Howl-O-Scream’s attraction lineup includes themed bars and hidden speakeasies. Rides in the dark include Arctic Rescue, Electric Eel and Emperor when weather permits. SeaWorld describes the event as San Diego’s largest nighttime Halloween experience.
