The Pursuit: F1 ACADEMY, a documentary special about young women in motorsport, will debut exclusively on Disney+ globally November 19. It follows drivers through the pressures and personal sacrifices of the 2025 racing season.
Formula 1 launched F1 ACADEMY as an all-female racing series to prepare young women for higher levels of motorsport. The special follows Doriane Pin, Maya Weug, Chloe Chambers and Alisha Palmowski.
Inside the drivers’ season
Filming took place across global race locations on the F1 ACADEMY calendar. Alongside race weekends, the documentary explores defining moments away from the track, with themes of ambition, perseverance and representation.
It also examines the teams and leadership shaping the series, including Managing Director Susie Wolff. The drivers’ efforts to advance unfold within a traditionally male-dominated sport.
“Every driver on the F1 ACADEMY™ grid is pursuing a dream,” Wolff said.
She said the special will capture the setbacks and successes that accompany that pursuit. Wolff hopes the stories reach beyond motorsport and inspire young women to pursue their ambitions.
ESPN collaborated on production. The special will also stream on the ESPN App later in 2026.
The Disney+ premiere falls on the opening date of the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, scheduled for November 19-21.
Disney’s racing partnership
The documentary extends Fuel the Magic, a multi-year collaboration between Disney, Formula 1 and F1 ACADEMY. The partnership combines storytelling, racing culture and fan experiences at Grand Prix weekends worldwide.
The partnership began with Mickey & Friends. Disney first unveiled it at the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix in 2026.
It expanded to include F1 ACADEMY at that year’s Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada. Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck took central roles, supporting confidence, representation and the next generation of women in motorsport.
Joss Hastings, Disney Consumer Products’ senior vice president of marketing, said the documentary extends the partnership to Disney+ and ESPN. Hastings described products, experiences and storytelling as ways to connect Disney and Formula 1 fans.
The special joins Disney+ sports programming, which includes live games, studio programming and original content across several sports. Disney says more sports programming will follow in the months ahead.
