Disneyland Paris has confirmed a lengthy closure for one of Main Street, U.S.A.’s signature restaurants. In an official update published Sunday, April 12, the resort said Plaza Gardens Restaurant has closed for a major renovation that will continue until early 2027.
The project goes well beyond light refresh work. Disneyland Paris said the refurbishment includes a full overhaul of the restaurant’s flooring, facades and roofing, along with substantial updates to both guest-facing spaces and kitchen operations.
How long Plaza Gardens Restaurant will be closed
Quick answer: Disneyland Paris said Plaza Gardens Restaurant closed in April 2026 and is expected to remain under construction until early 2027. The resort described the work as a major renovation, not a short refurbishment, which means guests should expect the Main Street dining location to stay unavailable for an extended stretch.
Disneyland Paris said the closure marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Victorian restaurant. The resort also stressed that the goal is to improve the guest experience while preserving the charm that has made Plaza Gardens one of the most elegant dining venues in Disneyland Park.
That timing matters because Plaza Gardens is a high-profile location on Main Street, U.S.A., and the closure stretches across multiple seasons. Disneyland Paris did not announce a more specific reopening day beyond 2027 in this update.
What Disneyland Paris says is changing inside
Quick answer: Disneyland Paris said the renovated restaurant will feature a refreshed Victorian palette, new pastel green tiling, a dark green floral carpet, reupholstered chairs and redesigned banquettes. The buffet area will also change, with a child-height section and updated breakfast furniture for families.
According to the resort, the dining room will be reworked with 291 chairs, most of them fully reupholstered, along with 40 banquettes redesigned for guest comfort. Disneyland Paris also said the interior palette will lean into lush green shades tied to the gardens outside.
The buffet area is also getting both decorative and functional upgrades. Disney said the space will include themed carved wooden elements, a lower-height buffet adapted for children, and new furniture designed to make breakfast service more welcoming for families and younger guests.
What will stay true to the original Plaza Gardens identity
Quick answer: Disneyland Paris said the renovation is meant to refresh Plaza Gardens without losing its Victorian personality. The resort specifically highlighted restored stained-glass canopies, preserved decorative details and refurbished lighting that will keep the classic atmosphere while upgrading the technology behind it.
Disneyland Paris quoted Walt Disney Imagineering Paris Principal Show Designer Stéphanie Bohnhoff, who said the team wanted visible guest-facing improvements without betraying the restaurant’s original story. The resort also said decorative accessories will be repositioned carefully to preserve the venue’s soul.
Lighting is part of that approach too. Disneyland Paris said the fixtures are being refurbished to restore the luster of bronze and brass metalwork, while also being modernized with LED technology. When Plaza Gardens Restaurant reopens in 2027, Disney says the goal is a space that feels familiar, elegant and meaningfully updated.
