Universal Orlando Resort confirmed new changes Thursday, May 7, 2026 for Universal Studios Florida, Universal Islands of Adventure, and Universal CityWalk, including Lost Continent closures, a Horror Make-Up Show reimagining, and new dining projects.
Guests should watch several dates: Horror Make-Up Show closes May 12, 2026, Hot Dog Hall of Fame closes in July 2026, Thunder Falls Terrace closes in summer 2026, and Mythos Restaurant closes in 2027.

Horror Make-Up Show
Horror Make-Up Show at Universal Studios Florida will temporarily close beginning May 12, 2026. Universal said the closure is making way for a reimagined version of the show that is scheduled to open later in 2026.
The updated show will feature a mix of classic and modern horror properties, plus what Universal described as “shockingly fun surprises.” Universal also said the refreshed version will keep the comedic and irreverent spirit guests know from the current production.
Lost Continent
Inside Universal Islands of Adventure, venues and experiences in Lost Continent will permanently close in phases. Universal said the closures will clear space for a new themed area, though the company has not announced the name, theme, attraction lineup, or opening window for that replacement area.
Mythos Restaurant is part of that plan, but it is not closing with the first wave. Universal said Mythos Restaurant will close in 2027.
Thunder Falls Terrace
Thunder Falls Terrace at Universal Islands of Adventure will close in summer 2026. Universal said the restaurant will be transformed into an all-new dining concept and will become the park’s new signature full-service restaurant.
The rethemed dining location is scheduled to debut in 2027. Universal has not announced the restaurant name, menu, exact closure date, or opening date.

CityWalk dining
Universal CityWalk is adding Fat One’s Hot Dogs & Italian Ice to the dining district. The restaurant was founded by *NSYNC member Joey Fatone and his manager Joe Mulvihill.
Universal said Fat One’s will serve creative hot dogs, Italian ices, and more. It will replace Hot Dog Hall of Fame after that location closes in July 2026.
What is still ahead
Universal also pointed to previously announced additions still on the way, including Five Guys and Luke Combs’ Category 10 at Universal CityWalk, plus Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift at Universal Studios Florida in 2027.
For Universal Orlando guests, the safest move is to check operating listings before building plans around these locations. Horror Make-Up Show has the first confirmed closure date, while Lost Continent and Thunder Falls Terrace still need exact final operating dates.
