Mickey Mouse is wearing a magician’s costume on Buena Vista Street, Goofy went as a scarecrow, and Donald Duck is dressed as a devil. Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort started August 21 and runs through October 31, with Plaza de la Familia at Disney California Adventure going through November 2. Disney has laid out where the costumed characters turn up across both parks and the hotels.
Over in Disneyland park, Mickey, Minnie, and friends are in brand-new Halloween attire this year: harlequin motifs, frilled collars and cuffs, and swirling confection details in orange, yellow, and black. You’ll find that whole crew in Town Square on Main Street, U.S.A., including Pluto, Clarabelle Cow, and Chip ‘n’ Dale. Jack Skellington and Sally hold court at the Royal Courtyard in New Orleans Square.
Which characters are in Cars Land for Haul-O-Ween?
Lightning McQueen, Mater, Cruz Ramirez, and Red the fire truck are all out in their car-stumes at Radiator Screams. The land gets seasonal decor and Halloween overlays on Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween and Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree. Snack stops nearby include a Vietnamese Coffee with Ube Sweet Cream Foam and a Taro Bread Pudding.
Car-stumes. Someone on that team earned their paycheck.
In Hollywood Land, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy throw a costume party during “Mickey’s Trick and Treat” inside the Disney Theater. It’s an interactive stage show with two original Halloween songs, video projections, bubbles, and a not-so-scary story. Around Paradise Gardens Park, “Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia Celebrate the Musical World of Coco!” performs live through November 2.
Where are the villains at Disneyland park?
Gaston, Maleficent, Cruella de Vil, Lady Tremaine, Anastasia, Drizella, The Queen, and Queen of Hearts all turn up at various spots throughout the day. Appearance times live in the Disneyland app, since these encounters are subject to change. There’s also a photo stop at the “Partners” statue across from Sleeping Beauty Castle, where character pumpkins include Buzz Lightyear, Roger Rabbit, and a brand-new Chewbacca. Oogie Boogie Bash has its own separate lineup with its own guide.
Which hotel restaurants have Halloween character dining?
Three character dining experiences are on the schedule, and two of the three run August 21 through October 31 while the Grand Californian breakfast keeps going longer. Goofy’s Kitchen Celebrates Halloween! at the Disneyland Hotel brings Goofy, Pluto, Minnie, and Chip ‘n’ Dale in Halloween attire through October 31. Clarabelle’s Enchanted Halloween Dinner at Storytellers Cafe runs the same window, with Clarabelle Cow, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Pluto.
The outlier is Mickey’s Autumn Adventures Breakfast & Brunch, also at Storytellers Cafe in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. It goes through November 15, two weeks past everything else, so it’s the one that survives into mid-November. Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and Chip ‘n’ Dale visit in festive attire over Mickey Waffles and custom-made omelets.
Reservations for character dining are highly recommended and can be booked on Disneyland.com. The rest of the season includes Haunted Mansion Holiday and a lineup of limited-time snacks.
What to know
Check the Disneyland app the morning of your visit for character times. If your trip lands in early November, Plaza de la Familia and the Grand Californian breakfast are still going after the Halloween Time decor comes down on October 31.
