Vampirina is heading back to boarding school. “Vampirina: Teenage Vampire” returns for a second season on Tuesday, Oct. 6 on Disney Channel, and the full season streams on Disney+ the next day. Jodie Sweetin from “Full House” joins the cast as a recurring guest star, and Disney is pitching the whole thing as a Halloween treat.
Season 2 picks up right after Vee’s big moment. She performed for the entire school in front of her idol, Millie Eyelash, and it went great. She also accidentally let a horde of monsters out of the mirror realm where they’d been imprisoned. Not a great first-show souvenir.
What happens in Vampirina: Teenage Vampire season 2?
Vee and her friends return to Wilson Hall with new musical dreams and a monster problem. They’re also trying to make sense of a prophecy that says Vee and Elijah can never be together.
The show is a live-action, music-driven take on the record-breaking Disney Junior series “Vampirina” and the book saga behind it. Vee is a tween vampire who leaves the safety of Transylvania for a performing arts boarding school. It’s her first time living among humans, so she chases her music while keeping the vampire part a secret.
Who’s in the cast?
Kenzi Richardson stars as Vee, the edgy and adorable lead. Jiwon Lee plays Sophie, her kind, girly-girl roommate, and Shaun Dixon plays the intriguing, laid-back Elijah. Milo Maharlika is Demi, a 600-year-old ghost, and Faith Hedley plays Britney, a super-talented legacy student.
The guest list has a “Camp Rock” flavor this year. Ava Jean from “Camp Rock 3” joins Sweetin as a recurring guest star. Hollywood Records artist Hudson Stone, who also appeared in “Camp Rock 3” and “The Mickey Mouse Club” pilot, guest stars as well. Kim Coles returns as Dean Merriweather.
Behind the camera, the team from “Julie and the Phantoms” runs the show. Dan Cross and David Hoge are showrunners and executive producers. Tim Federle, who created “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” executive produces alongside Bronwyn North-Reist and Meg Deloatch of “Family Reunion.” Randi Barnes developed the series for television.
Disney released first look photos with the announcement, but it hasn’t shared a trailer or episode count yet.
What to know: the season airs on Disney Channel first, then the entire batch lands on Disney+ on Wednesday, Oct. 7. That gives families the full run to binge before Halloween, which is clearly the plan for a show about a teenage vampire.
