Universal Studios Hollywood transformed the Hollywood Sign into a tribute to Fast & Furious on September 16, 2026.
The park lit up the Los Angeles skyline to celebrate the opening of Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift. Projection mapping showered the landmark in chrome. Colorful imagery from the films and the roller coaster flashed across the sign.
The ride itself opened on September 16, 2026, at Universal Studios Hollywood. I covered the opening day separately. This sign takeover was the park’s way of marking that same night across the city.
Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is now open at Universal Studios Hollywood. If you want the ride details, the media day interview with Jon Corfino covers the design side. The opening date announcement has the original timeline.
Shark Take: The sign was the flex. The coaster is what you can actually go ride now, so plan the trip around the ride, not the light show.
