In a supercute first for Los Angeles, Universal Studios Hollywood has opened two adorable new stores on their CityWalk property. The Sanrio Smile Shop and the Hello Kitty and Friends Cafe are two new additions to the Universal Property, featuring some of the most iconic Sanrio characters and the pretty kitty herself, Hello Kitty and friends!
With both locations right next door to each other, it’s easier than ever to get your fill of Sanrio sweetness, with this new addition to CityWalk offering both adorable new merchandise and exciting new Hello Kitty-themed food items to try! Specialty desserts and beverages make the Hello Kitty and Friends Cafe a must-do for those looking to add a little sweetness to their Universal Hollywood trip, and the picturesque treats are sure to be a pick-me-up to anyone’s day!
With most of the desserts averaging about 11 dollars per treat (with the exception of the Macaron Set, which is 25), these desserts are perfectly priced to share between you and a friend!
- Hello Kitty® Mousse Dome – A red chocolate dome-shaped caked with cinnamon mousse, apple pie filling and cinnamon streusel
- Seasonal Mousse Domes – Seasonal dome cakes inspired by Hello Kitty’s friends crafted uniquely based on their personalities and composed of chocolate mousse and a delicious combination of fruit fillings and sponge cake
- Strawberry Cake – Vanilla sponge cake, strawberry jam and whipped white chocolate ganache
- Berry & Cream Churro – Berry stuffed churro with cream cheese frosting
- Birthday Cake – Confetti cake layered with white chocolate mousse topped with whipped white chocolate ganache
- Macaron Set – A set of raspberry, caramel, vanilla, pistachio and chocolate macarons
- Hello Kitty Cookie – A Hello Kitty-shaped sugar cookie topped with royal icing and rainbow sprinkles
Beverages are also offered at the Hello Kitty and Friends Cafe, averaging about 8.50 for drinks. And with the sweet variety that the Hello Kitty and Friends Cafe offers, it’s a good thing these beverages are as reasonably priced as they are – because who wouldn’t want to try them all?
- Hello Kitty® Strawberry Green Iced Tea – Strawberry green tea, pink sugar rim with strawberries and mint
- My Melody™ Lemonade – Strawberry lemonade, yellow sugar rim, garnished with strawberries and a lemon wheel
- Kuromi™ Berry Iced Tea – Blackberry tea, purple sugar rim and served with blackberry and mint
- Tuxedosam™ Lemonade – Blue raspberry lemonade, pink sugar rim served and a lemon wheel
- Keroppi™ Matcha Latte – Frozen matcha latte topped with whipped cream and matcha powder
- Chococat™ Frozen Mocha – Frozen coffee, chocolate boba, whipped cream topped with chocolate sprinkles
Guests will also be able to purchase a variety of Sanrio and Hello-Kitty themed merchandise from the Sanrio Smile Shop and the Animation Studio Store also located within Universal Hollywood’s CityWalk. Exciting new statement pieces like new Hello Kitty backpacks, accessories, and collectibles all decked out in vibrant colors and designs are the perfect products for those looking to show off their Sanrio smile to the world, featuring characters like Cinnamoroll, Keroppi, Kuromi, My Melody, Badtz-maru, and Chococat along with the star of the show, Hello Kitty.
In addition to these new shops at CityWalk, Universal Hollywood has also partnered with Sanrio to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hello Kitty with a dedicated meet-and-greet area by the Animation Studio Store, which in addition to selling exclusive items celebrating Hello Kitty’s legacy of kindness and friendship, has also opened up this exclusive new photo op for guests looking to meet Hello Kitty herself!
