Disney has released the first official rendering of Disney Lakeshore Lodge and says the new Walt Disney World resort is still projected to open in summer 2027.
For guests planning future Disney World stays, this update puts a clearer picture on what the Bay Lake resort will look like, where it will sit, and what kinds of rooms Disney says it will offer.
First look at the resort
Disney Parks Blog introduced the new “Letters from Lakeshore” update series with a fresh rendering of Disney Lakeshore Lodge, a waterfront retreat planned for the south shores of Bay Lake. Disney says the resort will celebrate the beauty and magic of nature through Disney storytelling, with design inspiration tied to films including Bambi, Pocahontas, and Brother Bear.
The rendering shows a large timber-and-stone style resort with a broad porte cochere, heavy use of glass, and a setting built around the water. Disney also says floor-to-ceiling windows will bring in natural light and frame views of local flora and fauna, which gives a better sense of the resort’s overall look than previous concept talk alone.

What Disney confirmed
Disney says Lakeshore Lodge will have 967 rooms, with options ranging from studios to larger suites. Many of those rooms are expected to have Bay Lake views during the day and views of Magic Kingdom fireworks at night. Disney also confirmed the resort will include new one-bedroom and two-bedroom Lake Houses along the waterfront.
This update goes beyond a simple hotel announcement. Guests can now picture the room mix and how Disney plans to position the resort, especially for families who want extra space and a quieter setting while still staying in the Disney Resorts Collection.

Why this update matters
The biggest real takeaway here is that Disney moved Lakeshore Lodge from a vague future project to a resort with a public rendering, a room count, and a stated summer 2027 opening window. Disney says more details about dining, recreation, amenities, and design are still coming in future updates.
For now, guests watching Disney’s hotel pipeline should treat this as the first real planning marker. If Disney holds to the current timeline, Lakeshore Lodge would become one of the biggest new resort additions at Walt Disney World in years.
