Disneyland Paris pulled back the curtain on one of its overnight crews. In a behind-the-scenes feature published June 18, 2026, the resort followed the Horticulture team as they refreshed the landscaping at Central Plaza, the area directly in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, after the park closed for the night.

The Central Plaza refresh happens several times a year, timed to the season and the park’s schedule. It is big enough that the regular crew needs extra hands to pull it off before sunrise. That scale is the reason the resort treats it as a full nighttime operation rather than routine upkeep.

What does the Horticulture team normally do?

On a standard day, these Cast Members work from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. across the park’s lands, then move to the hotels from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The job covers topiary pruning, hedge trimming, lawn mowing, and the care of rhododendrons and tropical plants.

The work shifts with the setting. Some Cast Members tend the exotic plants of Adventureland and the dry landscapes of Frontierland, then head to the outdoor areas of Disney Hotel Santa Fe and Disney Hotel Cheyenne. Others handle the gardens of Fantasyland before moving on to the seaside look of Disney Newport Bay Club. If you have ever wondered why the planting reads differently land to land, this is why, and it reflects the resort’s wider attention to themed detail across the resort.

How does a night shift at Central Plaza work?

The night starts at 10 p.m. with a briefing. Team leaders walk through every task that has to be finished before dawn and hand out technical guidance. Experienced Cast Members pass along advice to newer members about the specific demands of the project, then everyone reviews the landscape plans, eats, and preps equipment.

By midnight the park is empty and the crew gets the green light. Disneyland Paris described tractors, lorries, and trailers heading up Main Street, U.S.A. toward the castle. Crews unload in a set sequence: spotlights to light the work, leaf blowers, rakes, and rotary tillers. The Horticulture team is not the only crew working the park overnight, which is part of how the resort resets itself before guests return, and it reflects the same care behind its pollinator-friendly landscaping work.

Who is on the team?

The feature put names to the crew. Matthieu has held a permanent role for four years and knows the job inside and out. Quentin moved from a work-study placement to a permanent position less than a year ago. Doriane joined the Disneyland Paris gardens as part of a career change, while Baptiste and Fanny are finishing BTS degrees in Landscape Architecture through work-study programs.

The mix of veterans and trainees is the point of the story. Knowledge moves freely between the experienced staff and the students, and the resort framed that mutual support as the thing that keeps the team running. That same upkeep mindset shows up across nearby projects like the Plaza Gardens area refurbishment.

What to know

This is a behind-the-scenes feature, not an announcement of a new attraction, event, or guest offering. There is no date you can book and nothing to buy. The Central Plaza refresh is internal work that simply shows up as fresh planting in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle when the park opens. If you are visiting and the gardens near the castle look noticeably sharper than your last trip, an overnight crew is the reason.
