In a Disneyland Paris update published Friday, June 19, 2026, Walt Disney Imagineering shared the design story behind Adventure Way, the promenade that connects the lands of Disney Adventure World at Disneyland Paris.

The walkway leans on Art Nouveau, the European art movement from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, to give the area a romantic, garden-inspired look rooted in nature.

The detail comes straight from the Imagineers working on the project. “Returning to the inspiration behind these early twentieth-century parks is, in a way, returning to the very essence of what makes a Disney park,” said Bowie Faas, Principal Creative Producer at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris. The goal was a timeless, nostalgic feel, a deliberate contrast to the urban, contemporary look that defined Walt Disney Studios Park.

What inspired the look of Adventure Way?

Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen is among the most significant references. The Danish park opened in 1843 and ranks among the oldest amusement parks in the world. Its founder, Georg Carstensen, wanted a place that blended art, culture, and nature, an idea the Adventure World team points to directly.

That connection runs deep in Disney history. Walt Disney visited Tivoli Gardens during a 1951 trip to Europe and came away inspired. That visit shaped Disneyland in California and the Disney parks that followed around the world, including Disneyland Park at Disneyland Paris.

What details should guests look for?

Light is the clearest nod to Tivoli. Nearly 10,000 lamps line the trees and buildings along Adventure Way, nicknamed “popcorn lights” by the Imagineers. The effect echoes the illuminated arches and hanging garlands of Europe’s old pleasure gardens.

Two gazebos frame the main promenade, setting a Belle Epoque tone. “Every detail, from the varied ornamental features and handcrafted stained-glass windows that decorate the facades to the harmonious blend of colors and materials, has been carefully considered,” said Andy Martin, Creative Lead. The Art Nouveau choice goes past decoration. The movement, tied to figures like Alfons Mucha in graphic art and Jules Lavirotte in architecture, built its identity on organic lines, botanical motifs, and harmony between people and nature. That shows up in the heavy landscaping along the walkway that ties the new lands together.

Why does one style cover so many worlds?

Art Nouveau works as a connective thread rather than a single themed backdrop. The promenade has to lead guests between very different Disney and Pixar worlds, and the shared visual language keeps the whole area feeling cohesive instead of scattered.

When did Adventure Way open?

Adventure Way is open now. It debuted with the rest of Disney Adventure World on March 29, 2026, when Disneyland Paris opened its reimagined second park to the public alongside World of Frozen. Guests already stroll the promenade, ride Raiponce Tangled Spin off it, and catch the Disney Marching Band parade down it. This Imagineering update details the Art Nouveau thinking behind a walkway people have explored for months, part of the broader Disney Adventure World transformation.

What to know: Adventure Way is the central promenade of Disney Adventure World, themed in Art Nouveau with roughly 10,000 lamps inspired by Copenhagen’s Tivoli Gardens. The walkway and the park opened to the public on March 29, 2026.
