Goofy Goober’s Went Viral and Makes the Case for More SpongeBob

When I saw SpongeBob on the Universal Kids Resort map, I knew exactly where I was going first.

I was there Thursday, June 18, 2026, inside the SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom land at Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas. I grew up on SpongeBob, so walking into a real Goofy Goober’s hit right away. It was bright, goofy, and instantly familiar. It felt like the movie made it into the park.

Apparently I was not the only one who felt that way.

Goofy Goober’s took off fast

My first video from Goofy Goober’s took off in hours. On X alone, it passed 899,000 views, with more than 5,600 likes and 587 retweets. Between X, Instagram, and TikTok, the clips were pushing nearly 6 million views in under 24 hours by my count. One Instagram clip alone hit 2.4 million views.

That is a wild reaction for one quick-service spot in a kids park. But people saw Goofy Goober’s and immediately understood why it was fun.

The big item is the Triple Gooberberry Sunrise, a $19.99 collectible-cup sundae with ice cream, strawberry Dole Whip, fudge, s’mores crumble, and Pop-Tarts pieces. The cup is a smiling Goofy Goober face you can take home. It is ridiculous in exactly the right way.

Goofy Goober’s also serves regular quick-service food, so this is not just a dessert stand. Still, the sundae is the thing people immediately grabbed onto because it looks like something straight out of the movie everyone remembers. The comments made the whole thing even better. People tagged friends, quoted the movie, and started asking for one near them. One fan wrote, “I’m a goofy goober YEAH,” and it became the top comment with 5,486 likes.

That reference still lands. SpongeBob has the kind of nostalgia parks are always trying to build from scratch.

I went straight to Bikini Bottom

When I looked at the park map, SpongeBob was the thing I wanted to see first. Bikini Bottom was right there. Goofy Goober’s was right there. I knew I was starting the day in that land.

That is part of why this stayed with me. SpongeBob has never gotten this kind of built-out land at Universal Orlando or Universal Hollywood. At Universal Studios Florida, he has SpongeBob StorePants, a shop that opened in 2012, plus character meet-and-greets. He pops up around the parks, but a real Bikini Bottom has not happened at one of Universal’s big destination parks. This Frisco land is the closest he has gotten so far.

SpongeBob has shown up in other parks before. Mall of America’s Nickelodeon Universe opened SpongeBob SquarePants Rock Bottom Plunge in 2008. Circus Circus Las Vegas added SpongeBob’s Crazy Carnival Ride at its Adventuredome on March 1, 2024. The interactive dark ride cost $6 million, and a SpongeBob 4D theater ride is also listed at the park.

So this is not about whether SpongeBob can work in a theme park. He already does. The question is what he could do with more room.

The business case is not exactly small either. SpongeBob has generated more than $16 billion across retail and box office revenue, according to franchise reporting. This is one of the most recognizable cartoon worlds ever, and it still feels like parks have only scratched the surface.

That is why Goofy Goober’s stayed in my head. Universal knows how to build worlds. This is the same company behind Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley, and Dark Universe. Seeing even a smaller Bikini Bottom work this well in Frisco makes it hard not to imagine what a bigger version could look like.

The case for more SpongeBob in the parks

This is where the article turns into an argument, because the comments basically wrote it for me.

One person commented, “Please tell me there’s an animatronic show,” and it pulled 918 likes. Another wrote, “I have adult money and I will book this resort just for this.” That is the part that matters. People were not just laughing at a fun video. They were picturing the trip.

And again, this reaction was for one quick-service restaurant inside a kids park. A great one, but still only one piece of the land.

Now picture a real Krusty Krab serving a real Krabby Patty, a walkthrough pineapple house, a boating-school attraction, or a full SpongeBob dark ride. The smaller version already got people excited.

It does not need to be the size of Diagon Alley, Dark Universe, or the Isle of Berk. Even a mid-size SpongeBob area could do a lot. The movie is a classic, and the fanbase keeps showing up.

To be clear, Universal has not announced a bigger SpongeBob expansion. This is not a report. It is me looking at the response and wondering why one of the most recognizable cartoon worlds ever is still mostly waiting for its big theme park moment.

How to try Goofy Goober’s yourself

If you visit after the resort opens on July 1, 2026, Goofy Goober’s should be on the list. Order the Triple Gooberberry Sunrise, take the goofy cup home, and enjoy the fact that SpongeBob finally has a real Goofy Goober’s in a theme park.
