When Super Nintendo World opened at Universal Studios Hollywood in 2023, Nintendo fans across the country were invited to be whisked away into a colorful kingdom where play rules, featuring classic Nintendo characters like Mario, Bowser, Princess Peach, Toad, and Donkey Kong. To the surprise of absolutely no one, this exciting new land full of beloved characters from video game classics was an immediate smash hit!

Now, Universal Studios Hollywood is putting out a call to all Super Nintendo World fans, to experience the new interactive at the Frozen Glacier game wall in their park!

With a variety of different interactives at the Frozen Glacier location, what game guests get to play are randomized between four different games that can earn players coins that boost players’ positions on the leaderboards and transfer their earned coins to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Switch via the amiibo function.

In order to collect coins and engage in other gamified experiences at Super Nintendo World, guests will need a Power-Up Band to activate games, transfer coins, and keep track of your stamps and scores throughout the park.

Recently, Universal Orlando Hollywood released a special edition Golden Power-Up Band available at any Super Nintendo World retail location within the park, allowing guests to show off their gold-status with this exclusive, limited edition band that allows them to game in style!

Typically, Power-Up bands are 42.00 USD plus tax, and no discounts apply. Because they operate on near-field communication (NFC) technology, the power bands never need to be charged, and can (and should) be reused for every trip to Super Nintendo World, to really rack up those points, earn stamps, and unlock new challenges within the park.

This Gold Power-Up band is available at Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood in limited quantities, though, so grab yours before they’re all gone! With this band having a previous release exclusive to Universal Studios Japan, and retailing online for 85-100 dollars before tax and shipping, you’re definitely not going to want to wait on these, especially if collecting park memorabilia, Nintendo merch, or amiibos is your thing!

Her favorite stories have always been about magic and far-off adventures, and growing up in Orlando, Florida allowed her to experience those adventures in real life. As an adult, she graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2023 with a degree in Literature while working in the Education Industry. Her inner child, however, still has a deep love for fairies, dragons, magic, and adventure. When not writing her next big adventure, she enjoys drawing, puzzle platformers, theme parks, and fast roller coasters.
