SeaWorld San Diego is putting Halloween back on the daytime schedule. Spooktacular returns on select dates from September 11 through November 1, and the headliner is an all-new Baby Shark Halloween Show that Pinkfong and company are performing only here in California.
The show lands at Mission Bay Theater, where families sing and dance along to Halloween songs with the Baby Shark family. There’s a meet-and-greet with one of the sharks too, photo op included. All of it comes with park admission, so nothing about the daytime event is a separate ticket.
How much are tickets, and what’s the kids deal?
For a limited time, kids ages 3 to 9 get a free one-day admission ticket with a paid adult ticket at $99.99. That offer runs now through October, which covers the first seven weeks of the season.
Annual Pass Members get free parking, up to six free guest tickets, and savings on merchandise and Quick Queue.
What can kids actually do at Spooktacular?
Trick-or-treating is the anchor. Captain Sweet Tooth’s Candy Trail sends costumed kids to eight candy stations around the park, with station times posted on the daily park schedule and subject to change. Eight stops is a serious amount of walking for a four-year-old in a full costume, so pace it. Reusable SeaWorld candy bags are sold at any retail location.
Spookley the Square Pumpkin is back at the Waterfront with Jack Scarecrow for story times, dance parties, and a meet-and-greet, and the Waterfront Pumpkin Patch returns as the photo spot with Mission Bay behind it. Mermaids hold meet-and-greet moments at the Rescue Jr. Stage. New this year, the Coral Candy Club Dance Party turns up the fall music.
Kids who want a mission can buy a Halloween-themed Hunt Map and work through the scavenger hunt.
One rule worth knowing before you dress everyone up: guests 13 and older can’t wear costume masks or hoods, and all costumes have to follow the park’s normal dress code. Face painting is only allowed if a park artist does it.
Daytime visitors also get this summer’s additions, including the new Shark Encounter and Dolphin Adventures.
Howl-O-Scream returns for a sixth year
After dark, the tone flips completely. Howl-O-Scream starts September 11 and haunts select nights through October 31, and its sixth year brings the largest lineup the event has had: six haunted houses, plus scare zones, live performances, and themed bars and speakeasies.
Shark Take: If you’re bringing kids 3 to 9, the $99.99 adult ticket with a free kid ticket is the move, and it expires at the end of October while the season runs into November. Check the daily park schedule when you walk in, because the candy trail times shift.
