Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith has officially closed at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The beloved coaster ran its final rides on Sunday, March 1, 2026, ending a nearly 27-year run at Walt Disney World.

Guests lined up throughout the day on Sunday for one last launch through the darkened track, with crowds gathering near the Tower of Terror area to say goodbye to the Aerosmith-themed attraction.

A Look Back at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster opened on July 29, 1999, and quickly became one of the most popular thrill rides at Walt Disney World. The indoor coaster featured a 0-to-57 mph launch in 2.8 seconds, three inversions, and a soundtrack from Aerosmith blasting through onboard speakers.

The ride’s premise placed guests in a “super-stretch limo” racing through Los Angeles to make it to an Aerosmith concert. It was one of the few Disney World attractions to feature inversions and remained one of the most intense thrill rides at the resort for over two decades.

What’s Replacing It: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets

Disney first announced in November 2024 that the coaster would be rethemed as Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. The new version will use the same track layout and ride system but swap the Aerosmith storyline for a Muppets rock band experience.

The closure follows the end of MuppetVision 3D, which previously operated nearby at Hollywood Studios. The Muppets retheme shifts the franchise’s presence at the park from a theater-based show to a major thrill ride.

Disney has confirmed the Muppets version is expected to open in summer 2026.
